Overview

Indiana has made early literacy a statewide priority, with a goal of 95% of third graders reading proficiently by 2027. State policy emphasizes science-of-reading instruction, early screening, targeted intervention, IREAD remediation, and ongoing family communication.

As Indiana builds on recent literacy gains and expands it focus on math, Springboard Collaborative helps districts accelerate learning through evidence-based tutoring, family engagement, and targeted literacy and math support.

Aligned to State Priorities

  • Universal literacy screening and dyslexia screening and early identification

    We use district screening data – including DIBELS 8th Edition through Amplify – to identify skill needs, monitor growth, and provide families with bilingual, actionable Student Action Plans.

  • Science-of-reading instruction, targeted intervention, and IREAD remediation

    We deliver in-school tutoring using Future Forward’s Tier 2/3 model, along with after-school and summer literacy programming that reinforces foundational skills and supports students needing additional reading intervention. Indiana requires research-based interventions addressing identified reading deficiencies and explicitly recognizes intervention during, before, or after school and in summer.

  • High-quality curricular materials and instructional coherence

    Our curriculum-universal approach reinforces district-adopted, science-of-reading-aligned materials – including Amplify CKLA – so intervention complements rather than competes with core instruction.

  • Family communication and at-home support

    We extend Indiana’s emphasis on parent notification by helping families understand student progress and giving them practical reading strategies, workshops, and bilingual tools to support learning at home. Indiana’s own guidance requires families to be informed about assessment results, interventions, and supports.

  • Growing emphasis on mathematics

    Springboard also offers math tutoring that can support Indiana’s expanding focus on elementary mathematics and targeted intervention, including the new K-5 math framework established through HB 1266.

Funding Opportunities

  • Indiana Summer School Funding

    State-reimbursable summer school funding prioritizes core academics, including early literacy and math; eligible K-8 courses include ELA/reading and mathematics.

  • State and Local District Funding

    District funds may support evidence-based literacy intervention, IREAD remediation, tutoring, and extended learning aligned to Indiana’s literacy priorities.

  • Federal Title I, II, III, IDEA, & 21st CCLC Funding

    Federal funding streams may support targeted academic intervention, tutoring, embedded educator development, multilingual learner supports, family engagement, and out-of-school-time programming, depending on district and grant requirements.
